There are several groups of islands in the Aegean sea. Greek yacht charters is a terrific way to explore them.
A popular group is called the Cyclades:
They are mainly volcanic and Santorini is a lovely example. Taking it’s name from Saint Irene. The island is a submerged volcano which boasts a caldera – stunning!

Mykonos is fabled for it’s white washed stone buildings. The churches are a must see. The washed stone leads to blue domes – the color of the sky! Modern life sits comfortably in Mykonos. Their is a choice of night clubs and beaches everyone!

Hiring a sailboat is following in the ancient marble trade routes. Cut from the mountains of Paros and loaded on to ships. You can see the workmanship across the Aegean Sea even today! Look out for the lively center called Naoussa.
Naxos was ruled by the venetians and this has left a mark on the buildings. It is the largest island in the group of Cyclades. Crowned by MT Zas- being the tallest mountain in the islands.
