There are few pastimes in Europe so peaceful and serene as bareboating Croatia. There are over one thousand islands along the coastline, making up over half of the measured coastline!

It is possible to explore uninhabited islands and coves with your family and friends within a matter of hours from setting sail! There are five leading ports which you can choose to leave from on your bareboat sailing Croatia style! There are a few things to bare in mind about sailing in Croatia, so read along to find more!

Archipelago

The Dalmatian country of Croatia is made up of an archipelago of islands that stretch from the North near Pula, all the way South to Dubrovnik.  The land is also mountainous with plains further East.  You can make the mountains part of your holiday by renting mountain bikes and exploring the trails!

The small print!

The port authorities require that you have a day skippers ticket or international equivalent including VHF radio license in order to bareboat. If you are thinking of sailing in Croatia and you don’t have this, then don’t be concerned as you can also take advantage of skippered chartering Croatia as well!

Regardless of your level of sailing expertise the dynamic of the islands and considerable choice of activities and locations means you can either research your charter for yourself and go bareboating, or take advantage of the provision of a skipper, it your holiday and that’s up to you!

Culture for everyone on board!

As you would expect from such an ancient land, there are many sights and sounds, not to mention restaurants, bars and clubs to be experienced in the principle towns. If night life is not for you, then you can be assured of peace and quiet amongst the islands and coves of the archipelago! There are also vineyards to hand.

  • Split – is an ancient city with a multi cultural heart that features the summer festival from mid July through mid August
  • Zadar – In the center of the coastline, offering the choice of sailing to the North, towards Pula or South to Split

    Hi Chris

Fantastic shoice for a sailing destination!
Just wanted to let you know about our book – The Croatia Cruising Companion – in case it’s of use to you and your readers. Here’s the link to Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Croatia-Cruising-Companion-Jane-Cody/dp/1904358284/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1253655555&sr=8-1

Also, looking at your site (which is great) I thought I should let you know that the picture you have captionned as “Spectacular Dubrovnic awaits” is actually of Trogir, further north.
